There are different ways, by joining a CSA, to protect our future generations. Keeping your local farmer in business is one of them. You support other local businesses, why not your local farmer too? Most local farmers do not use herbicides or pesticides. Children are exposed to these much more than adults. It also cuts out the middleman, allowing the exchange to be between consumer and farmer.
Now some of you have commented that you do not have local farmers in your area. Have no worries...I have a solution for you. Join a CSA Subscription Box. A company that comes to my mind is called Full Circle.
CSA Subscription box, CSA subsription box review, Full Circle CSA
Full Circle is a CSA Membership that allows you to create your own Farm Box. You decide what size and the contents you would like in your box. You can even pick an artisan item like honey or home made jam to be included in your order. You can choose how frequent you would like your box to arrive. There are pick up sites available in some areas too.
Just think, you will be eating healthier, supporting a local farmer, and protecting our future generations. Try it...I guarantee you will love it!
Taking a morning or afternoon stroll can be relaxing. But, why not kick it up a notch, and visit your local farmers market. There are so many reasons why you should, but I am going to give you the "Top 3".
Why visit a farmers market, local farmers markets, local produce, Info about farmers markets, DE fun
Reason #1 could be summed up in 3 words, SUPPORT YOUR FARMERS! Eating fresh is the best way to go. Will you pay a little bit more? The answer is, yes. Is it worth it, YES! You are supporting that farmer, his family, and respecting generations of work. Most of the time, they are selling you the vegetables and fruits that were just picked that day. You can't get fresher than that! My children know, that during the summer, I never buy produce in the grocery store. My mother used to tell me that the grocery store tomatoes never had any flavor. I never knew what that meant, till I started buying my tomatoes from farmers markets and local stands. Believe it or not...a tomato is suppose to taste like a tomato!

Just like Reason #1, Reason #2, can be summed up in 3 words. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES! Not every store you come across, started out as a Fortune 500 business. Most of them started out, the same way you will see other businesses at a farmers market, LOCAL! You can find honey, bathe soaps, and even jewelry. While traveling, I love to stop by a farmers market. You can find unique souvenirs that you wont find in your typical gift shop.

Reason #3, and you know, I saved the best for last. Getting out and enjoying yourself! Whether you are visiting with your entire family or by yourself, you will have a great time. Let's face it, it is hard not too. As you approach each booth, a conversation is usually started. Some farmers markets will have tables and chairs set up, so you can eat outside with entertainment playing. If you are lucky, you might even visit a farmers market that is held at a winery or is being promoted by a beer distributor. Even better, you get to try the local flavors too!
