The foundation of crEATe at 48 is built on a genuine love story that intertwines with the concept of farm to table dining. Owners Jason and Nicole met in the summer of 2007 in Charleston, South Carolina, where Jason was working as a corporate executive chef at a local restaurant. Their connection was immediate, and soon after, Jason asked Nicole out on a date; their very first dinner lasted well over four hours. They quickly bonded over a shared passion for exceptional food, engaging storytelling, and an appreciation for local cuisine.
Six months later, Jason received an offer for an executive chef position in Washington, D.C. Trusting her instincts, Nicole followed him to the city. Just two months later, the couple was engaged, and they officially tied the knot in July of 2009.
After spending two years commuting from the Baltimore area to D.C., they decided to take a leap of faith. They purchased the home of Nicole’s grandparents, located just outside the quiet apple country of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. This move offered them a peaceful retreat from the busy city, allowing them to embrace the essence of Gettysburg restaurants. Jason continued his commute, but their roots in the Gettysburg community began to grow deep.
